Halloween morning started out with a huge spider web that covered the entire classroom. We then estimated the weight of the Great Pumpkin. In math class we carved the pumpkin and counted all the seeds in its guts. The children also painted little pumpkins. There were great costumes today at school, vampires, princesses, goblins, hillbillies etc. etc. etc. I went as a flamenco dancer....then came home changed into my hula costume to go to work at Lava Lava. The staff at Lava Lava had incredible costumes too.... most to gory to show pictures. My hula costume tonight looked more like a pumpkin than a dancer :) One of my recent wedding couples were in the crowd! My favorite costumes by far though where those I received in texts messages from my brother and sister of my niece and nephews. Elizabeth's kids were dressed as Peter Pan and Wendy. Matthew's sons were a Ranger, Thomas Train and a horse. I love those kids!!
The last few weeks at Innovations Charter School have been eventful. We took the 1st and 2nd graders to the Kahilu Theater to see Lava Roots African Dance Concert. On Tuesday Matt from Reef Teach came to share a lesson on our local marine life. On Wednesday Kumu Malie gave the blessing as all the children helped in the groundbreaking for the new extension on the campus. Today was the start of Spirit Week..... everyone wore mustaches. The rest of the week is sure to be exciting! All that while still dancing at Beach Club in the evenings and had three weddings to photograph this week.
Been really busy teaching full time, dancing 4 nights a week and photographing weddings.... So I have not posted in a while. Today is such a special day I just could not pass up a post to say "Happy Lei Day"!!! Today our K/1 class wore small plumeria leis on their wrists.
